Magniflow Vs. Sunsun

I'm looking for a canister filter for my 46 gallon bowfront. I've narrowed it down to a Marineland Magniflow C220 or a SunSun 302. I will also be running a Seachem Tidal HOB. I'm interested in any and all thoughts, criticisms, and praise for both canister filters.

I have 4 Magnaflow 360 and they have run flawlessly for several years. If you look at eBay over a few weeks new Magnaflows can show up around the same price as the Sunsun filters.

Have you looked at Hydor canisters ?

The Ken's Fish website has them on sale.

I've owned the 600 model for over a year and a half. Works great.

Otherwise, I'd get a SunSun 704b, or Polar Aurora equivalent.

Whatever you buy, I suggest getting some food grade 100% silicone grease, to lube any o-ring or gasket it may have .

Its great for the prevention of leaks.

PetSmart has them on sale right now. Pretty good prices, but they're still more than the SunSun. Amazon has a SunSun 302 with media for $65.

I've looked at the Hydor filters, but not a big fan. Ken's is out of all of them except one. I do have some Danco silicone grease from Home Depot. It's designed for faucets, so is safe for drinking water. I also have Super Lube, which has been recommended for canister filter o-rings as well.

I had the Marineland C360 10 years ago and it failed after 2 years. Bought a Sunsun 303b and it's been running perfectly for the last 8-9 years. Have that and a Tidal 75 on my 75 gallon. Good combo.

The C series filters had some problems, which is why the Magnaflow series came about. The Magnaflow series fixed the issues of the C series.

$52 on Amazon, no media but you use your own anyway.
