Magnet sticking to rocks??

I have had my aquarium going for 4-5 weeks now currently stock with 6 tiger barbs and 5 corys , while I was cleaning the glass the other day with a magnetic scrubber I had gotten to close to my sand and I got some sand between the scrubber and glass so I lifted the side I was holding away to release the sand and the inside piece attached to one of my rocks. I got these rocks from outside landscaping, cleaned them up and have been in my tank from the beginning they are all very smooth and hard mostly dark gray almost black colored with the exception of a couple.I have been having my water tested with an apI liquid test kit at the LFS weekly as I wait for it to finish cycling before purchasing the main fish I intend to keep and she has not mentioned anything being out of line except my nitrates or nitrites ,would these rocks cause some sort of major issue??

60 gallon tank
Aqueon 55/75 HOB
Sand substrate
10" bubbler
Sponge filter to be put in this week once it arrives
Weekly 15 gallon water changes...( just read somewhere I shouldn't change water until cycle has completed, someone chime in on this please if I should or should not do this)

Maybe there's iron in the rocks

I would keep changing the water ( don't clean the filter though as you BB needs to build up ) weekly as you have been doing.

As for the magnet, I personally do not use them because I ended up scratching my glass very heavily with one. I didn't notice that the fine sand gets caught in the magnet and becomes very abrasive ( despite trying to keep it clean ) and over time, the fine particles that you do not see will cause fine scratches in your glass that you will not be able to get out unless you buff it out. It's not worth the pain, IMO.

Manet sticking to rocks??

It could be that there is iron in the rocks. Also it it's hematite it definitely does have iron in it and shouldn't really be in your tank. It will leach iron into your water. To some fish this is a big no no. If you've had no problem and they've been there a while since that sounds like it is the case, you may have nothing to worry about. It's best to find out exactly what kind of rock it is just to be sure.

Oh boy now I'm worried I just stocked Bolivian and German Rams in it yesterday ,I'll have to do some googling and research....and after its all said and done I'll still be unsure and probably end up just taking them all out

Sorry to cause you worry. I did the same thing one time. I'm a rock/hound and I love the look of hematite underwater. I had several in my tank until I found out what it did to the water! I didn't loose any fish over it though. I could have been incredibly lucky. It just depends mainly on how sensitive your fish are to iron.

I appreciate the heads up I'm gonna keep researching I have learned a few things over the last few hours I'll probably leave them for a lil while but will be looking at alternatives that are attractive
