Lump on betta and white/green streaks

Hi,

We've owned our betta for around 8 months. Sadly I think he was sick when we bought him, and we've battled with fin rot since day one. Now he has developed a lump on his fin and has white/greek streaks all over him. I've attached pictures below. We have tried Betta Revive, BettaFix, Aquarium salts and regular water changes. His PH is also consistently reading as high despite the above.

Is anyone able to advise?

Many thanks

Do you vacuum the substrate or just the water? Both

What do you use to test the water? API Freshwater Master Test Kit
What are your parameters? We need to know the exact numbers, not just “fine” or “safe”.

Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 40-80ppm
pH: 8.0ppm

Feeding
How often do you feed your fish? Once a day

Have you started any treatment for the illness? We have tried various treatments, including Bettafix, Melafix, BettaRevive and Aquarium Salts
Was your fish physically ill or injured upon purchase? Yes, fins seemed ragged
How has its behavior and appearance changed, if at all? He seems a little more subdued, resting on the driftwood we bought him occasionally. But overall still pretty lively, swimming around a lot.

Explain your emergency situation in detail. (Please give a clear explanation of what is going on, include details from the beginning of the illness leading up to now)

Let me tag a few people who know a bit more! Repolie Fanatic

If the raggedness is fun for then the cure is daily 25-50% water changes until he heals because fin rot is from poor water quality. But let’s see what they say also

Try every other day rubbing his fins with 1%-3% hydrogen peroxide gently on the worst areas with a cotton swab. A medicine that stops fin rot over night I found is Jungle Fungus Clead

Yes that also works for extreme cases but sometimes only water changes are needed so you won’t have to do such invasive treatment.

The lump on his fin appears to be a tumor and unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it, but they're usually harmless and just a cosmetic issue. Don't know what's causing him to present the streaks, but it looks to just be something related to colouration which would be harmless.

You shouldn't worry about your pH. Bettas are adaptable and as long as ithe pH remains stable then it's fine. Ideally most would try to keep nitrates around 20ppm, but people say up to 40ppm is acceptable.

I wouldn't suggest you jump to other medications yet until you try sorting out the nitrates with water changes. You can add Indian almond leaves which have therapeutic and antiseptic properties to promote the healing process.

MochiiakI how do you swab that solution to the betta? I can't even catch mine and it flails when tried to net or cup it out :-D I see goldfishes being handled perfectly but not bettas I'm curious now on how it was done without stressing them.

I caught mine and moved him to a separate cup with shallow water then placed my hand under him and lifted him to where I could just see the side poking out of the water but the gills were still under. It’s kinda unavoidable that they may squirm a bit but you have to hold them there until they get comfortable. After doing this for about a week my bettas severe fin rot he had at one point stopped and after another week started to heal

Thank you all for your responses, really appreciate it. We will try adding some almond leaves and maybe a little extra driftwood (on advice from a local aquarium), and will do some 25% water changes for a few days and see where we get to.

Will keep you updated!
