So I have some of this plant in my tanks and I have done for a while and it’s bern growing really well but I’ve not cut it a whole lot, I’ve just cut it down quite a lot and I noticed the last time I cut it there was 2 stems that came from the cut so I cut the very tops off as well as half way down or so, I’ve planted the tiny bits of the tops in another tank to grow where they won’t be turned up by fish but I’m just wondering, does it matter how small the cut is in order for it to grow?

It doesn't really matter how small the cutting is, however most like it at least 4 inches in order for the ease of planting it.
