Low Tech Carpet Plants?

I really like the way plant carpets look. I would like to have a carpet in one of my tanks.

Low light
Low tech (no CO2)
Flourish and Flourish tabs are used
Small gravel as substrate

Are there any carpet plants that could go in my tank? Or do carpets only work in high tech tanks?

Thanks for any suggestions

I would like to know too. The carpets look so good. I wonder about gravel vacuuming with plant carpets though. I look forward to some replies.

Hydrocotyle sp. Japan and monte carlo are the two I have expereince with and work in low tech. By far, I'd say the former is the easiet and fastest growing of the two.

Hydrocotyle is pennywort, right? I'm yet to learn all of the scientific names for aquatic plants...haha Monte Carlo is nice! Thank you

Dwarf sag can carpet. It's a grassy plant that spreads pretty well with root tabs. I can't keep it anymore because my severums think it's delicious. After they get done it looks like one of my fish have taken a weed-eater to it.

Apparently lilaeopsis spreads and I have noticed my clumps are finally spreading out a bit more after spending the first couple of months looking a bit stringy and straggly. I'm also low tech, black sand, no co2, kit LED light, I don't even use ferts unless I get leaves showing weird colours indicating a deficiency. Doesn't seem to stop the Stricta and Wisteria growing like crazy either

Vacuuming is a bit tricky as I have frequently picked up runners so that's probably reduced how much more it would have spread by now. Whoops!

I saw on The Green Machine on YouTube how they vacuumed the carpet plants by just gently pressing the tube down over the plants and the gunk seems to come out but it leaves the plants in place. But they plant into those flash substrates so they probably have really great roots helping to hold them down!
