Lost a GBR in my Discus tank

Yesterday afternoon during a feeding in the Discus tank I found the one lone GBR stuck to the filter tube, dead. I am so sad about it. I just couldnt believe what I was looking at. He seemed fine and didnt show any signs of being sick. I have noticed that a few of the Discus had been picking at him from time to time and the ram stayed down in the plants. Now I feel horrible that one of the Discus may have hurt him enough to kill him. I thought Discus and rams got along ok?
I feel horrible... I should have just kept him in the 29 gallon tank with the other two rams. I moved him because the other two rams were picking on him and he was staying up at the surface corner and I thought he would be better off away from them, now I feel terrible about my decision.. poor lil guy!!
I read that they do well in a Discus tank, but the temps there are around 84* is this too warm for rams?

I am so sorry. It could have just been a territorial thing between the discus and ram, since they are both cichlids remember. The temp is fine for rams, is it fine for the discus though?

HI Tom
the temp ranges from 84*-86*. It is fine for the Discus. You may be right, it may have been a territorial thing going on in the tank, maybe with more rams in there it may have been better off. I don't know...

I know that all my fish lost their territories when I restocked the tank with plants. So maybe, if you double the plants in the tank, and add some rams, there shouldn't be(in theory) any problem with that.

Add the new plants a few hours before the rams are added, so the discus don't have time to make new territories.
