I saw a few dark brown specks ( away from the main clutch which is laying on a piece of floating styrofoam )
I can't tell ( so tiny ) but they look like they have the yolk sac still attached??????
Do I let them find their way in to the water from the styrofoam or shall I give them a gentle "push" ?????

It's only been 12/13 days since I first discovered the clutch.... I hope this is normal progression!!!

Wow between this in my main tank and some MTS born a few days ago in my Betta tank, we've got some snails here!!!!

Oh and I bought 3 baby fry bn plecos today ( I think they are still fry since they are less than a 1/2 inch long ) SO cute!!!

I LOVE babies!!!

Where are you going to put the new bn plecos? Did you buy another tank as well? If so, what size? I wish I had a tank large enough to breed bn plecos in. That would be my dream tank. Maybe someday.

Congrats on the baby snails!

I love my BN pleco, Professor Nubbins We got her when she was tiny, it's crazy how much she's grown. I like how they look kind of sparkley from the tiny hair-like structures on their sides. (Maybe it is actually hair?) And they look all cool and sharky. I may get a male, since the females don't actually grow nubbins (we didn't know she was a female when we named her, of course. )

So can anyone tell me what I should do with the snails??????? They are in a styrofoam cup floating on the water. One side is open so they can crawl out but they don't seem to be.. Do I need to push them in the water?? I don't want them to die and I don't know what to do with them..... Please????

Thanks!

let nature do it's job

Well "nature" would have been them still hanging on the side of the glass but dumb me knocked them in to the water while cleaning ( the reason they are in styrofoam floating on the water like a raft )
So just leave them be?????

Yes, leave them be. They will find the water and start scavenging soon enough.

Thanks. They don't seem to be doing anything. I am going to do a pwc today before I lose them in the tank

I'm so jealous I wish my mystery snails would reproduce. I guess I got 2 males.

My home tank seems to generate pond snails in exponential amounts I stuck a few in a jar and and there is lots of eggs all over the jar I have been thinking about getting 2 assassins and putting some pond snails in a bigger jar just and establishing a farm for the assassins. I would rather get rid of the pond snails. I also have a Ramshorn but so far just one. and I have at least 1 MTS that is about a cm long. Those I added to the tank purposely.

I had this one Mystery snail for 3 months and it was by itself the entire time ( In the Betta tank )
It was only after 4 days AFTER I moved her in the community tank that she laid eggs!
I don't know if they breed that fast or not but the 4 days she was in my tank, my other 2 mystery snails were on her like a backpack! LOL

I still don't know if the eggs are good or not. They are still sitting in a styrofoam cup in the water and they don't seem to be doing much. Its been 14 days so we will see in a few if they are good or not.

I too get the occasional pond snails and they are in a jar on my fireplace mantle enjoying the sun and algae. I've only got 3 of them in there but they are getting scary big!!!!

Then on another note, I put in 7 MTS snails in the new betta tank a little over a week ago! I now have at least 6 baby microscopic MTS snails!

At this rate, I don't know if any of them are going to survive. I saw one on the glass today and minutes later, it got eaten by a barb
I may have to fire up the 5 gallon, do an instant cycle and put the snails in there. Right now they are still in the styrofoam and I believe some of them had gone in to the water but the majority of them are still in the styrofoam. Not sure when they will "move" but I am not getting a good feeling about this ???

Well, it looks like that's the end of the egg clutch! SOMEONE knocked the styrofoam in to the water, the clutch looks like it was half eaten by probably the barbs. I know we got a few snails out of the bunch so we should be glad its not 100!

Well I know I may not have a hundred of them but I have seen at least a dozen so I am guessing at least 2 dozen will come out of this batch. The good thing is, they are growing by the day and are twice the size they were last week! How is that even possible???? Just waiting it out and hope they grow fast ( bigger than the barbs mouths )
