Looking To Start Beta Aquarium In My Office

I just got a new position at work where instead of working in the warehouse I'm working in the office. Thinking of starting a small aquarium on my desk and was thinking maybe a betta aquarium. Was looking around on some websites for advice and came across this aquarium.

Anyone have any experience with this model, or have an aquarium they recommend? I'd also like to try doing a live planted aquarium with this one as well. Any recommendations on low maintenance/low light plants?

I have a 29 gallon community aquarium at home that thrives, but I don't have any live plants in it.

Thanks in advance!

It look good, but I think it would be cheaper to buy all the equipment individually, if price doesn’t matter, get it(+a heater). As far as plants go I would recommend hornwort(it does kind of take over the aquarium though), java moss, Java fern and anubias

I have this aquarium. it's very compact and looks good on a desk but i'm not a fan of its dimensions. it's too tall and not wide enough. it's a pain to plant and do maintenance on. I also took the built-in filter compartment out to make more room and replaced it with a small hob and a sponge filter.

my betta is a chronic tail-biter and I thought it might have something to do with the tank dimensions (not enough swimming room) so I bought him tank instead. haven't transferred him yet though.

anubias, java fern, moss balls, water wisteria, water sprite and bucephalandra should do well in this tank. the light isn't very bright and doesn't illuminate the bottom of the tank too well. I bought an extra small nicrew clip-on light and am using that with the stock light. I also use nilocg thrive as a fertilizer.

please ignore my ugly reflection lol

edit: oh yeah, and it was on sale for $45 on amazon. looks like the price went up. I bought it a couple months ago and bought it "used" for $40. they didn't send me a used one though heheh

Thanks for all the replies. I thought the same thing about it being taller rather than wider. I'll take all this into consideration. I don't have much space on my desk for an aquarium but I also want to make sure the fish have adequate room.

Your welcome and best of luck finding one and if you get one from Amazon try and find one with reviews, as I always do before buying certain items

Looks great. The other one I can recommend are AquaOne's Betta tanks though I think they are smaller, at 7lt and 10lt so less space for plants.

Building you own may also be a good option as other have suggested. Just takes a little bit more time.
