When I was originally looking for a tank, I was unable to find a "good price" tank. I did find a lot on sale at various aquariums in my general area.

If you really want to save on a tank, it may be helpful to look at local listings. There are a lot of people getting rid of their old tanks and consequently have no need for the filtration system and lighting that came along with it.

Craigslist. Make them fill it before you go pick it up. Inspect it. Use an led flashlight to reflect cracks and scratches. If it looks good and no leaks or damage you do t mind go for it. always make them fill it. Some guy tried selling me a 29 gal (i have a 20l so i can upgrade easy) and he refused to fill it. Thats a warning right there..

I never found a lot on Craigslist but I posted on a Facebook aqaurists club in my area that I was searching and got three tanks (29,37,30 breeder) for $60. A lot of offers for tanks bigger than what I was looking for (2 55s,75,120) were moving and trying to get rid of everything asap and offered them for free as long as I picked them up.

Too bad you missed the $1 per gallon sale Petco does in July. Just try to find a used one thats in good condition and if you want new use that until you save up a bit or the next sale comes!
