Looking For New Fluorescent Bulb To Help My Red Root Floaters Thrive!

I just picked up some red root floaters at my lfs today and they are my first floating plant! I have a 29 gallon tank with a hood and fluorescent bulb that came with the tank. Was wondering what bulb would be better for this plant that could fit in my hood. I think it’s a 24” bulb. Any suggestion cause I will not be going LED anytime soon. Thanks

Do you have floating plants? If so what ferts do you use?

I only have duckweed and they are currently struggling since I don't use ferts and my tanks way understocked. If its the 29 in your profile I wouldn't think you need to add anything special for them but depending how many of your other plants are water column feeders you may need to start. Let me see if I can find a thread to help you.

Something like this would be the most cost effective but if you only have one tank may be too much product but would last you for years.

There are some liquid all in one ferts but again I have no actual experience with them either.

Wraithen do you use ferts?

That big bush on the right is java fern and far left is anubis but not sure which species. The apongeton in the middle behind the driftwood is on its way out since my Farlowella catfish has been eating it and destroyed most of it.

I haven’t had to because the java fern and Anubis have great growth with all the fish I have. I just started putting flourish comprehensive in today since I got the red root floaters. Hope that’s enough cause I kinda liked not having to dose a lot of ferts or any before.

I do. I use dry ferts now that I've got the custom dosing spoons. Never again do I want to premix for a bigger tank. I also inject co2 starting a couple weeks ago. My wisteria looks like a tree now instead of a stem plant. Super thick stems.

Then I will leave the how and what up to you. Thanks.
