Looking for input on mail ordering fish

Ordering fish through the mail seems crazy to me. Looking for personal experiences good and bad and maybe a few websites that have decent prices. How much is shipping for live fish? My LFS has a limited stock and I don't like waiting when it is time to stock. Thanks all!

iv ordered from live aquaria before and was happy with them. most fish in your fish store were shipped to them so no reason why you shouldnt have them shipped to you.

I have odered from wetspot and bought off of aquabid.
very happy with each.
Shipping can be expensive but driving an hour to the nearest fish store and coming home empty handed is expensive to.

I have ordered from aquabid and ebay. Both were ok. Depends on who your order from. Can you special order at your local fish shop?

Actually I can. I also just looked at the shipping prices, yikes! My LFS is 5-10 minutes away. Guess I will be special ordering and waiting.

I've ordered from the CichlidStore online and had a great experience. The $10 supply fee rather than an expensive shipping fee is awesome and the prices are awesome. The selection of fish changes every once in a while so you need to check often and if you see something you want then you need to order it right away. I've also ordered from forum members and the fish arrived healthy and shipping wasn't expensive at all. I haven't ordered from LiveAquaria because the shipping is really expensive.

I've also heard good things about this store and shipping also isn't bad-

I have ordered many times off of Aquabid and once from Wetspot. I have been pleased the majority of the time. Depending on what species you are looking for, some Aquabid auctions include shipping. I just got an awesome deal, shipping included for some black-chinned livebearers.

I've ordered off aquabid live aquaria and harpua2002 all with great success. Best thing to do for shipping is try to find someone on aquabid who is close enough to you to ship priority mail and only take 2 days. Much cheaper than next day shipping

Good morning,

Since you have over 50 posts to the open forum, you are permitted to use the Fish Lore Buy/Sell/Trade/Free section. You never know, there may be a fish there waiting just for you!

Have fun shopping. Keep us posted.

Thanks for posting the question. I just ran across Wetspot. They have an awesome list. Many of the fish I'm looking at are cheaper than the pet stores in my area. I haven't done the math, but at $35.00 for shipping, I might get off with paying $8.00 per fish which is on par with the LFS's.
