I have a 36 gallon tank with 6 bronze corydoras 6 marble mollies 8 harlequin rasboras and a clown pleco. I am looking for a replacement to my dwarf gourami that died. Preferably something that can be alone and is a decent size. Thanks.

Could I put a shark or a cichlid in there?

IMO, no, your tank is at a high load already, if you're overfiltered you may get away with another dwarf gourami but personally I wouldn't push it.

You could have more fish if you decreased the number of mollies.
    They have very heavy bioloads.

What else could I put I there. I only have 4 since two of mine died

I'd rehome at least 1 more of your 4 mollies, preferably 2 or 3, but a pearl gourami, honey gourami, dwarf gourami, blue gourami, Angelfish, betta, or Rams would be good centerpieces if you had less fish
