Looking for a good buddy for flying fox

I would like to get a flying fox, but I don't want to have a whole tank devoted just to him. I have been told that they tend to get more aggressive as they get older. Has anyone around here had one? What kinds of buddies did they have? or what kinds would you suggest?

I have never that of having a bat as a pet. It might be fun but you could only watch it at night. But if you are talking about a fish, I have never had any experience with one.

I wasn't really thinking that it could be taken as wanting a pet bat I was talking about a Siamese Flying Fox, its a type of shark that feeds off the bottom, looks kinda like an oto,but imo is much prettier.

I found this on them:
Flying Fox can be kept in a community tank, but it might chase other fish viciously from its territory. There shouldn't be more than one adult Flying Fox in a tank. Not compatible with the red tail black shark.

Hello Muffy, I have had a flying fox and I learned the hard way which tank mates are ok. The E. Bicolors (redtails, rainbow sharks) are a bad idea with less than 55 gallons. Being they are both territorial, BUT I did have success with two Flying Foxes. I'm pretty sure this is odd and only happened becuz of the presence of a very dominate RedTail, the Fox just seemed to fall in line. It never really got violent between the two but it was a stressful situation all around. I now have a few Bicolors in their "own" tanks with a large variety of small live and egg bearers and they are very calm and add 'grace' to the tanks. The Flying Fox's are supposedly less aggressive but I still think making it the only one of it's species in a tank is best. In fact I have 4 Cherry Barb's in a 20 gallon with a Rainbow Shark, the shark has a stripe on his nose that slightly resembles the Cherry's line and I think they mistake him but they school around behind him and follow him around and he doesn't really mind. He seemed to only find threat when someone was invading his space not 'hanging around'.

- The Flying foxes now live in a hundred some gallon pond at a relative's and they hold their own with full size coy, plecs, tadpoles (and frogs), and a few random fish that I couldn't keep. They quickly grew when we put them in to 5-6 inches maybe? but mostly "girth"
