Well I just went to my LFS for a look as you do and there he was ,so I got talking to the owner and he explained what he liked and did not like. so I thought I would get him because where I live on a small island we don't get fish like this very often .Its good to see that other people like him because he is very cool .

They are quite easy to look after and I would recommend buying one ,but only buy 1 or 3 or more because they will fight with each other .They need blood worm every day but will take flake .You will have to make some hiding places for him and make sure you have no holes it the top of your tank because they will jump out .If you do get 1 don't panic when you put it in with your other fish because he will bump in to all of them, they think this is to show dominance and will calm down quite quick to be a relay cool fish .Just out of interest how much are they at your LFS ,my one cost ?8.50 and is about 5".

sorry about the delay in replying! went away for 5 days

the elephant fish are ?4.50 each and are approx 2-2.5 inches. I live in Swindon, Wiltshire in the south west of U.K, its a bad place to live but the upside is that we have 3 LFS's the furthest one being 10 Minutes away so there's quite a good selection.

I also have an elephant fish in my tank I'm wondering if yours is real shy. mine is very active but only at night which is not surprising since they are nocturnal. I thought I could get him out more during the day since I managed with my other nocturnal fish. when I spotted the elephant nose I had to buy it right away I don't normally do that because I like to research first but I just couldn't resist.
