Lonely Endler or Sick Endler?

HI everyone. On Saturday I purchased a new endler to go with the four I already have-all males. The alpha of the existing foursome would not leave him alone, so it has been hanging out mainly with three glow light tetras and five ember tetras. Yesterday I found him in the back right corner on the substrate under a bunch of Rotala. Today, he's kind of sitting on top of it. (See pics). He has been eating and active, there are no outward signs of injury or illness.

I have a heavily planted 20 gallon tank, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates all at 0. In addition to the tetras mentioned above, the other tank mates include three nerite and three mystery snails and about 35 cherry shrimp.

Any ideas? I'm getting concerned.

 

He looks sick, he is probably being beaten up by the other fish. I would try to separate him. He looks like he might have a fungus, but I'm not very good with fish illnesses.

 

I don't see any fungus on him, the photos are just blurry. What do you see that concerns you?

 

Update: I moved him over to a 3 gallon aquaponic tank, and he went immediately to the bottom. This isn't looking good for my little guy.

I wonder why, I'm sorry to hear that. My guppy likely did the same thing. I left for a day and came back to a dead fish for no reason.

I just added six guppies and the endlers will not leave them alone. I just separated them. I hope they can adjust and get along. If not, one of the groups will have to go.

 

Are they being aggressive or just curious? Once the novelty wears off they should lose interest.
