Is a twenty gallon ok for a loach tank or is it to small. I could also turn it into a cichlid tank

What type of loaches do you wish to keep?

I'd think it would be ok as long as you have 20" or less (adult size) of Loaches.. but you'll need to get smaller ones or just have a couple probably.

The Yoyo (Botia almorhae) gets to about 6" each and like a group - 3 of those would fill a 20 gallon.
The Golden Zebra (Botia histronica) gets to about 5" each and like 3 or more - you could get 4 of these in the tank.
I'm not sure about "tider boties" - couldn't get any google results on them, but pretty much for a 20 gallon, it seems you could get yoyos OR zebras but not both.
