Livebearing Snails

OK, so I've been looking all around for information on snails, it is a bit confusing because there are many lovely specimens available in the UK that I'm just not seeing here in the US. Yesterday when I was up in Fairbanks at the fish store there, I asked if they had any livebearing snails, which I have actually had once upon a time.....
He said in an emphatic tone that THOSE are not for sale in the US any more.....What's up, is this true? :'( I can't even get a trumpet snail? So what I'm asking is what folks out there know about this, and sources if they know where to get them. I'd be interested in any livebearing variety. Thanks.

usually, you can get MTS from people who already have them, with enough food, they breed pretty quickly or depending on if you want them I don't think pet stores are allowed to sell them anymore though.

I should be getting some in a week or so, so if you still want some and are located in the US, feel free to let me know. I can send you some after I get them
