Live plants and switching from gravel to sand

    How difficult is it to switch from gravel to sand. Also what are good live plants for beginners that enhance the appearance if a tank

    Changing the gravel to sand isn't hard, but you will effect the bacteria in the gravel. You could just do a really good gravel clean and then put sand in. For beginner plants, Java moss, Java fern, etc.

    if you look towards the end of that forum there is an older pic of the tank after i put the fine grit black sand in. With black diamond, the finer grit is less black so if you go with the normal grit it will be more black.
