Listless Clown Pleco Only Moving When Poked

my clown pleco is listless and he only moves when I poke him. The ammonia is .25, Ph, 6.5, and nitrates is 20. I am trying to get the ammonia down to 0 but its hard and that's not the problem since he already survived one ammonia spike before. Is there any way to save him?

What is your nitrite level? How long has your tank be running? Do you have driftwood? How often do you feed your pleco? What is offered?

Sorry for all the questions but your profile info is too sketchy to gain a good understanding of your tank. If you wouldn't mind, please provide complete Aquarium Profile Information. Just click the My Settings button at the top of this page, and select Edit Aquarium Info. Complete the information on your aquarium, including tank size, filtration, stocking, lighting, water parameters, etc. And save your changes. Then you won't be inundated with answering questions about your tank.

The nitrites is at 0.25, its been running since early September, I have a piece of mopanI driftwood, I feed him algae wafers, and he enjoys brocoli.

Good morning,

I have merged your Update with the original thread concerning your Pleco. I think it will less confusing to other members now.
