Linear air pump placement

Just a question on placement of a linear air pump?
I see everyone mounting the pump near the top of the room, I’d like to mount one in my basement and run pvc to all 6 of my aquariums on the main level of my home.
Will the pump push air up to my tanks?
Or is this not a good idea?

If the pump is strong enough it will work.
Just place the manifolds or run all airlines above the tank to the ceiling or a foot or more above the tank first.
This will avoid back flow/ syphoning in case of power loss.
Never trusted or needed a check valve.

The pvc in the living portion of the house is what I was trying to avoid my tanks are in 3 different rooms and I really don’t want pvc run all through my house.
My basement is all open so putting the pvc down there is not a big deal and I would drill a small hole in the floor for the airline to get to the tanks. So if your saying the pvc needs to be above the tanks then I guess I’ll forget about it
Thank you

I use 1/2 inch irrigation hose instead of PVC . It’s flexible , cheap and easy to work with around corners etc. If you have access to your ceiling cavity you could run the main hose in your ceiling space cavey?

As far as pushing air up from the basement that is no problem. Pushing air up or down hill is no problem. It’s only when you are pushing air below water that depth comes into play.

Ya there’s no access to the attack without cutting a hole (not interested in doing that lol)
The largest tank I have is a 55 so I think it’s not too much head pressure, it would just be about 4-5 feet up and then into the tank 18inches, my 36 is a bit deeper like 23
I like your irrigation hose idea! I’ll have to check it out
Thank you for your help

You don't need to use PVC.
I use a combo of PEX and different size clear poly/silicone lines.
The point is if the airline just goes over the rim of tank and down to basement you risk syphoning the whole tank to basement during a power failure or just dis connection somewhere in line.
All my air manifolds are hung over the tank to avoid issues.
Many use check valves?
