I have a 55gal tank that has the following dimensions: 48" L X 13" W X 20" H. In other words its tall and narrow and not the ideal tank for a planted set up. Still, my wife believes it fits perfectly in the room its in and has challenged me to set it up as the centerpiece in that room.
I plan to grow a few stem plants on the back like Bacopa Monnieri, Rotala Rotundifolia, Ludwigia Arcuata, Rotala Indica Green and about half of the foreground will grow hemianthus cuba and Staurogene Repens. I will be injecting CO2 but will not be dosing ferts. I plan to have some Cardinal Tetras and Neocardinia Shrimp in this tank.
I would really appreciate suggestions on what would be adequate lighting for the above. I have a budget of $300. I am willing to go DIY route, have been thinking of using strip lights (thoughts ?) or I can use off the shelf lights.
Thanks in advance
