lighting for plants

    Hi

I have just bought a fluval complete set-up from ebay.
It is 24"-12"-!5", it has a inbuilt light in the lid which is 18" long and 15 watts, looking at various sites I think I need more lighting. Does this mean I need to get a new lid, because I cant see anymore holes for more tubes.

I have had the tank running for the last 2 days, with dirty water from my smaller tank, and I have just ordered 10 plants selection from ebay.

It doesn't sound like you will be able to add more lighting to your tank.  Since you already purchased the plants, you will just have to see how they do in your tank.  PlantGeeks has a great plant guide which gives you a general idea of the light requirements of each type of plant.  It may turn out that you will have a plant with higher light requirements, but it does well in your tank anyway, which appears to be a low light set up.
