Light Whiting Out Tank

I bought a new bulb I believe it is a full spectrum light. It seems to "white out" the tank. Any recommendations on better lights? I'm thinking about the finnex plant+ as my eventual replacement. Any idea how to soften the light now?

What is the color temperature? 10,000K?, 7,000K?, 6,500K?

Ok. That is a little high. If you have live plants try 6,000K. If you have fish only, then you can go lower to about 5,000K.

I got this one because the pros at petsmart said my plants needed it

Lol!!!! 6,000K - 7,000K for plants is ideal. The EXTREME RANGE is 5000-10000 so they may have meant no harm.

The whitewashing is worse in person. When I have the curtains open in the living room the sun lights the tank beautifully.

The Finnex Planted Plus has 7,000K white LEDs, but it also has red and blue LEDs, which is beneficial to the plants, but is also visually appealing. Beamswork has a light with white, blue, red, and green LEDs which I think balances out the light nicely.
