I’m currently on vacation away from my fish tanks, so since my tanks are planted I I I put them on light timers.

The first one is looking good! I’m sure the timed light isn’t effecting very much as it’s an aged tank and it’s the same amount of time as it was Look at that crystal clear water

And then there’s this tank. I’ve been gone since saturday and this has already happened :/ I’m wondering if the timer isn’t working properly... I think everyone in there is still okay though. My clown pleco is probably happy

Yeah it was probably on the whole time. The light timers I like are the old fashioned ones with the pegs you push down on the hours you want it on. So easy.

Well it shouldn't been on too long then? I wonder what happened?

I recently bought this smart plug which runs off wifi and include an app for the phone where I can check the status of it, turn it on or off from the phone, and it is also a timer. I love the timer because it adjusts from power outages, time changes, etc. automatically because the phone handles it. What I DON'T know is if I take my phone into a different timezone, does the timing of the lights going on and off adjust to my new timezone or stay based on my home. If that is the case, I would have to change the timer on the app to adjust accordingly.
