Light Green Dots on Marimo Moss Ball

Hello,
I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 guppies and 2 platies. I bought a Marimo Moss Ball from Pet Smart about a week ago and I let it sit in its jar for a week to weed out any hitchhikers. Today I opened it up and started to rinse it when I noticed light green dots all over it. Does anyone know if these are eggs and what eggs they are?

Do you mean the dots on the tips? I have never kept these before, but that just looks like the tip of the strands. Good luck with your tank!

No, I am talking about the light green dots on the balls.

You mean the big ones? I'm not sure. But I'm sure Chanyi would know. He seems to have a lot of knowledge around plants.

Do they come off? Looked like duckweed to me...let's see what others think! (ps good for you for quarantining your plant!)

Some of them came off but there are some that are stuck in there won't come out.

Any chance you could post a pic of what you removed? If not that's fine, I'm sure someone will have your answer!

Are they all the same size? That might be a clue as to whether there eggs or plants. I can't imagine there being much drastic variation in egg sizes, but something like duckweed could be rather variable.

my first thought was duck weed, or some sort of floating small plant.
