Light bulb for 10gallon planted

Hello all...

I'm setting up a 10 gallon for plants.
The hood I have takes incandescent bulbs.
It came with 2 15watt but I don't know if that's going to be enough?

Any one able to offer advice on a better bulb?

I want to use this tank to grow dwarf hair grass, babytears, and mosses as well as some starters.
I plan on using aquasolum black humate as a substrate

 

It's going to be hard to impossible to grow grass or tears with that hood. You can try these as a replacement but at the cost of 2 of them, you'll probably be better off replacing the hood and getting a real grow light. Tears and grass are hard to do withoug co2. and high wattate lighting :

 

So your suggestion brings up a question ...those are 10 watt bulbs and mine are 15watt.

How does the watt per gallon ratio work?
If my bulbs are 15watt each is that 3 watts per gallon?

The stock incandescent bulbs are nothing compared to grow lights. It will boil down to wavelength and lumens, Both of which you'll have to research.
Watts per gallon doesn't matter at that level with incandescent.

So I'm thinking just glass top
T-5s and Co2
Ferts (liq.+tabs)
humate soil

Maybe sand or peat gravel?

 

Sounds like a recipe for algae, over my head. You might want to start a new thread with that question. With a T5 grow light, you start getting in to watts per gallon and when you throw in Co2 and ferts, too complicated for me. Good luck.
