LFS tried to sell me a sailfin pleco for my 50 gallon tank

Can't believe my LFS tried to sell me a sailfin pleco for my 50 gallon tank, saying they only grow to the size of the tank. I thought I had finally found a good LFS.

True. Even for employees at Petco and PetSmart some are actually informative and know what they are talking about. Some actually told people to cycle there tank and that they can't buy fish yet.

Agreed. Depends on the employee.

At my local Petco the manager is extremely knowledgable. He's always ordering cool fish too. About a month ago he had banjo catfish and humphead glassfish.

All depends on the person. As long as you know what you're talking about and the store maintains their tanks well it doesn't matter who's scooping your fish out for you.

 

Before I moved, they had a handful of knowledgeable people at my petsmart. They had their own tanks. One bread angelfish. They have refused to sell people fish because of a not cycled tank or the tank was too small.
