LFS sold me 3 different kinds of corys telling me they would school together, what can i do to fix this?

My research before getting them said this would be okay, but I should have done more extensive research. Unfortunately, 3-4 corys is all my tank can hold right now as I don't want to overstock. I realize my mistake and feel bad about it, and will do whatever I can to fix it. My research says that you should have at least 3 of the same species (preferably 6), but as the title says, I have 3 different kinds (1 peppered, 1 bronze, and 1 albino).

Some people say that their different corys did school together, but I'm not sure if mine do and if they're happy. They will feed together, glass surf together, swim together etc but I'm not a cory expert and I don't know if they are thriving.

I would take 2 back to my LFS and exchange them so that I could have 3 of the same kind, but my LFS does not do exchanges. I'm kinda stuck here and I'm not sure if I should try to swap 2 out or if I should just leave it.

Any help is appreciated!

Bronze and albino should be the same species unless you chanced upon a specially albino. Try taking the peppered back and get another bronze/albino bronze.

... Demeter beat me to it!

See if you can take the peppered back and swap for another bronze or albino.
Bronze and Albino's are the same species.

thanks for the reply! I am pretty sure that I cannot take a fish back and get another, as per the store's policy, but I will call and ask. Any other ideas? What if I just got another peppered so there were 2 of each?

They should be in schools of at least 3, preferably 6. I wouldn’t get another pepper, instead I would get another bronze/albino.

Is it the store's policy to give you the wrong info. They made a mistake, not you.

you make a good point (especially because it's seen as one of the best in the city with knowledgable employees). I will bring it up!

Put the Cory into the local ad. If I would search for a single fish, that would be the route for me.

I would bring the story a bit different.
Don't point them towards or ask about their "policy". Simply ask how they solve problems / complaints being known as the best LFS around. Let them give them the answer themselves / correct their fault themselves.

yeah of course! being civil and polite often gets a lot better results than confrontational, as well as I know they will want to keep having returning customers.
