So I'm doing a little tiny river biotope, and want to get sand and stones from my local river. This has been debated several times and usually ends up with 'why risk it when you can buy play sand?' Which is a great answer. But I LOVE the river and I love pulling palm fulls of sand up and looking at all the little grains. They aren't fine grained, more like pool sand. I love watching the little minnows dash around. Anyways,
What are your opinions? experiences? Best way to disinfect?
    aaaand go!

Boiling water will kill most nasties, I'd do it several times just to make sure then rinse, rinse & rinse again
