Lethargic Dwarf Gourami

I posted 6 days ago that my f. Platy had what looked like ich and the dwarf gourami had a red bump. They've been in quarantine with melafix for that time and the ich is gone. The gourami's bump is gone with just a little redness left. Today, he's lethargic, sometimes resting on the bottom, though he is eating. Should I move them back to their tank? And do I need to acclimate them since they've been in the medicated water? Before and current pics below.

Gourami died.
But, even more confusing is we have a very pregnant guppy dead in our 20 gal!
Anyone have any ideas? I'd especially like to know if we did something wrong with the gourami. He was fine until 2 days before end of treatment time(1 week)
ETA: Upon removal of body, I discovered a quarter of an inch bulge surrounded by a brown ring just behind the gills on one side.
Parameters are stable (same for the last month):
Ammonia:0
Nitrite:0
Nitrate:5

Obviously something wrong with gourami, but should we have treated it differently?
Dead guppy in the 20 gal tank, a coincidence probably, but it just confuses things. We have a lot of fry in the 20 gal, so just nervous.

The ulcers are a clear sign of DGD to me, which is viral and you couldn't have done things differently to safe him !

Thank you so much for the reply. So glad to know this going forward.
Any ideas on the guppy? So strange to have 2 deaths at the same time. The only thing unusual with her was she hovered near the top in a corner off and on yesterday, but thought that was normal pre-birthing behavior.

Sorry Karen, I am a Gourami-lover, a Cory-fanatic but a Guppy-hater. Must have beem a coincidence I think.

No problem. Is DGD the same as iridovirus? Was reading a thread from 2007/08 and am kind of confused. Love Gouramis, too, and Corys. Not sure I want to replace the gourami for fear of recurrence. Bought at lfs.

Yes that's the same.

There should be am inportban for some years on these beautiful fish. But as long as every dead fish needs a replacement the trade won't do a thing about it arghhhh

So, the problem with imported gouramis getting this is ongoing, yes?

It is mainly in Asian bred Gouramis.
These fish are so beautiful they are overoveroverbred

Well, unless I can confirm that the gourami I buy next is locally bred, I for one, will go without. *sigh*
Thanks for the info again.
PS, when you say the prob is with Asian-bred, does that mean others are imported from other regions and are fine?

Yes, but the biggest part arrives from Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia.

Sorry about your loss. However this may explain why my Gouramis always died. I always thought it was something I did.

So sorry about your fish. Have you considered honey gourami, Trichogaster chuna? From what I've read they aren't susceptible to iridovirus
And they're lovely, peaceful fish.

Thanks for the suggestions! Having only a 20 gal tall stocked with 3 platys, 3 guppies, and 3 corys, could I still have a honey? I thought we only had space for a dwarf. Or is the honey a dwarf variety, too?

They get about 2 inches. I have 5 and they're great fish

I will def consider getting a honey gourami, then. Do you have all male, all female, or mixed?

To be honest I'm not sure if they're male or female but whatever they are they're all the same. I've compared them to pictures and thought female but always figure the stores tend to carry males!? Mine all get along fine and I did a lot of research before I got them and everything I read said the honey's do good in groups. They interact a lot so I wouldn't keep just one though.

There's some of them. There's some other very pretty color variations too. I always liked the coral colored ones but me lfs had these guys and they were too cute to pass up

Thanks for the info. We only had one because we had heard they would pick at each other, so maybe it was just the dwarf species. Yours are very pretty! Once we rehome most of our fry, I'll be looking into the honeys.

Thanks!
I have a cory question for you. Ten days ago, we got 3 bronze corys. Two of them constantly and quickly swimming to the top and down to the bottom, very active. The other one tended to stay on it's own and toward the bottom, but active. We've been feeding the tank with Omega one flakes and sinking shrimp pellets. Water parameters have consistently been:
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-5
since setting up the tank.
As I mentioned before, a guppy died a few days ago for no apparent reason. Yesterday, the 'lone' cory became lethargic and darker and today we found it dead. I am discouraged because I feel like we are doing what we should to keep conditions good. Is there anything that you can think of? My 19-yr-old son just got a 55-gal that he was going to stock with my corys plus more because he loves them, but, though he's researched them quite a bit, he is hesitant now. Any help would be appreciated.
