Lethargic Corys

I have 5 corys in my tank and they have been very active since setting my tank up, however in the last week they all just lie at the bottom of the tank hardly swimming and eating very little. I do weekly water changes and checked my parameters today which were all fine. Anyone have any suggestions as to why they are not swimming and if there is anything I can do to help them.

Are they breathing heavy, have discolored gills, or other signs of disease?

What exactly are your parameters? Temperature?

Anything change with decor? Any items added or removed?

They don't appear to breathing too heavy, more not breathing at all. They will move occasionally tho. There appearance looks fine, no discolouration and fins look fine, just drooped slightly. I haven't added anything new recently and feeding is the same. Last water change was on Wednesday and PH was 5.5, Nitrate and Nitrite 0. Ammonia 0. Temp 27 degrees. I wouldn't worry so much if it was just 1 fish as I know corys have a tendency to lie still but its the fact they are all doing it. Hopefully they will perk up soon. Might try doing a water change tommorow.

welcome to the forum

waterchanges always encourage a lot of activity in the tank.

5.5 pH is a bit low. Has it always been this low or is this a recent change? What is your tap pH?

My Ph has always been low and the tap water is the same, when I set the tank up a year ago I tried increasing the ph but nothing really worked and was given advice that its best just to leave it. The fish have never found it a problem before.

There still lying at bottom of tank, don't think they are going to make it

Unfortunately one of my peppered cory's died this afternoon, it started swimming upside down so I wonder if they have caught a disease. I have done 2 water changes since they became unwell but no change in there condition.

oh no! sorry for the loss of your cory...are you still using stress zyme? I'm wondering if you are getting some false readings on the tank being cycled with using that...if you have prime or even amquel + , with some water changes , it might help allot. I hope things look up soon!
