Left My Grandma In Charge Of My Tank While I Was Away

So I had to go back to college for the week because I had to run orientation for our new freshman and I left my adf tank in the hands of my grandma for a week and taught her how to take care of them. Essentially I come home and the tank is green and sappy looking. WHAT DO I DO? I don’t want my little guy to die! I immediately did a 50% water change this morning and wiped away some of the algae but I don’t want to take the little guy out and stress him out with a 100% water change and clean it all out. Anyways how do I clean up all this algae?

Nerite snails would be good. I think you could also buy some type of chemical algae remover. But I would get nerites how big is your tank? Is it filtered?

We’re in a 5 gallon I used to have two frogs but one passed two weeks ago but I’m going to buy another because I don’t want my single adf to be alone. It’s filtered! And I was thinking of getting a form of algae eater. Thanks!

So definetly DO NOT use any of the chemicals, they will do more harm than good.
Is the algae in the water, or on the glass.
If it is on the glass, just woke it down, put I assume it is green water, if that is the case, I would do a 40-50% water change every day until it is clear.

It’s on the glass and when I was doing my 50% it was greenish water which is why I was so concerned. Yeah I don’t really trust putting chemicals in so I’m still going to maintain my water changes and I May or may not buy a algae eater of some sort.

I know algae remover is bad but I didn't know the circumstances by the OP's reaction in was imagining 1 inch fuzzy algae coating the walls with green finding nemo water

I would just buy a sponge, that has nothing added, and wipe it off. If you want algae eaters, I but would recommend otos, they are small, and are like algae lawnmowers.

This is after my water change it’s still a bit sappy and green looking but not as bad as this morning before my change. And my adf perked up a bit. I think I am going to just keep doing water changes cuz it seemed to help a lot!
