HI I am going to be leaving for ten days in june and I am wondering how will I be able to keep my fish feed if I cannot get someone to watch my house? Is there pellets that last about 9-10 days I could put in the tank? I am going to do a 25% water change before I leave so the tank will be cleaned before I leave. But how will I keep my fish feed? Ideas or tips? Thanks really appriciate ideas and help thanks!!!!

They will be fine for 10 days without food. There are things in the aquarium to eat.

If you are concerned, just throw a mess of ghost shrimp in before you leave for the fish to snack on in the meantime.

Yes, they are predatory. They are born that way.

It takes us three weeks to starve to death. Since fish are cold blooded, they don't use energy to keep warm so their caloric requirements are much lower than a warm blooded animal.

They may live w/o food for that long but IMO it's not humane. I would never let any of pet of mine that in nature would typically eat every day, go w/o food for that long. If I were you I would get a friend or family member to come by atleast a couple times to feed while you are gone.

Good morning,

If you are able to find someone to feed your fish while you are gone, I highly recommend that you pre-measure the food for each day so that your fish are not over fed. Hide the rest of the fish food.

I've seen on several occasions where people go on vacation, they had someone to feed their fish, they were fed way too much and the tank was a mess when they returned.

Have a safe trip and best wishes for your fish!

Ken
