Should I leave the light on in my aquarium 24/7?

What kind of fish do you have in it? I have a 29 gallon with Black Skirt Tetras, Flame Tetras, and Leopard Danios. *I keep the light off when I go to bed, turn it on the in the morning, feed them, leave it on all day turn it off when I go to sleep.* If you don't like to hassle with that you could try an automatic timer. :] Your fishes need sleep too!!
Do not leave your lights on 24/7!!!!! no matter what kind of fish u have. your fish need to rest and sleep; so keep the lights on 10-12 hrs only and if u have live plats in your tank they will die if u keep the lights on all the time.

Definitely try to simulate a day/night cycle for them. They need the dark hours for sleeping and some fish are more active then. some fish like a moon light at night, but mostly stick to the 10-12 hrs MAX, like Neville said.

What they said, unless you have blind cave fish. Of course, even then you're going to have to do with the insane amount of algae that's going to grow in your tank.

Good advice. 24/7 lights = unhealthy fish and crazy algae. Just say no!
