Least Favorite fish?

Of all the fish you have kept which species did you least enjoy?

For me...the piranha. Boring and skittish.
We had a pair of Green Terrors...the male killed the female and then later committed suicide...I found him dried out on our floor like the next day. They nipped the poop out of our Blue phantom pleco. They were way too aggressive for me.

well, we've just had 2 species of bettas, corys, otos & platys.. enjoyed them all. i'd only say otos because the group we got from deathco only lasted a few weeks so we had the least time to enjoy them.

I want get s couple of ottos to go in with my betta...but Walmart seems to be the only one to have them cheap, if at all. Otos don't seem to popular around here. We had one last year, he was interesting when I could see him...which was never. Then he just disappeared.

They aren't what you think...sometimes they are even too scared to eat. We had 4 wild caught caribe so they were extra skittish. Other than feeding time they just sit still unless something wigs them out.
I think if you were to get them as babies then they could be different.

I've loved all of the fish I've had But I suppose I'd never want to have Piranhas! I'd have to feed them with other live fish or mice ... and that I could NEVER stand to do !!!

You don't have to feed them live anything if yo don't want to...we gave them the odd feeder fish but the mostly loved there uncooked frozen shrimp from the grocery stores...they seriously acted like the cats do when waiting for treats. They'd go down to the other end of the tank while my bf, Ty would throw a piece a shrimp to each fish. It was comical...you only have to feed them once a week when they are full grown...very cheap.

I think my least favorite fish would have to be serpae tetras, because when I had some, they were really aggressive.

My least favorite fish that I have owned is... don't hurt me please... Paradise fish. Sure he was beutiful, the longest fins I have seen, playful and all but dumb as a brick he jumped tank at least 20 times, had the hood duct taped on in the end yet he still managed to jump out of a tiny 1/2 inch gap between hood and heater when he was a good 3/4 inch wide!

I don't like arowanas and honestly don't think they should be sold in most pet stores as most people don't have the tank for there adult size

Out of all of the fish I've had, Pictus catfish. I bought them small and in 2 months they grew about 3". They were the size of a small cucumber by the time I figured I would get rid of them. They kept trying to eat the other fish in the middle of the night and ate 2 of my guppies, leaving the others bruised. I did get $10 each for them, since the pet shop could sell them for $20 no problem. Fair enough, since I paid about $5 for the two and they ate mostly scraps and those 2 guppies.

I dislike Oscars. I've never had one and don't intend to, but I cleaned their tanks all summer and they are just dirty fish. If they would just stay small I would be okay with them, because they're kind of endearing when tiny and their personality is cute then, but they just get big and ugly.

I still have them.. and really do not like them.. that is the long fin black skirt tetras. I don't know why that is.. my husband loves them and that is why they are still here, but I just do not care for those. I agree with the poster, that yes they are aggressive and are territorial as heck!
I liked platys but they became another least favorite fish. My platies didnt do much but hang around the top corners of the tank. I won't get anymore of those again. Lets add tiger barbs to the list now... tho I love the colors, these lil guys are just plain mean and I have had more than one killed in a fight with another tiger barb. I won't be getting anymore of those either. lol...

We had 8 in the 120g...they fought all the time. You see 4 just duking it out all the time.

My least favorite was probably my pleco. He hid all the time and I never saw him. Then one day when I was rearranging my tank I found him under the bubble wand. He was only bones. The tank had perfect pH, Temp, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Compatable species, and I just bought him. Soon afterwards my fish developed ick.

Oh, it doesn't sound that bad! Lurking around the tank and waiting for prey like cats, sounds so funny, LOL Well, as long as I could feed them something that's already dead, like dead shrimps, that would be "doable" for me, I guess And feeding only once a week!? Is that healthy for any fish? To eat a lot at once, instead of small amounts but more often?

With our piranha they were full grown...adults only need to be fed once maybe twice a week...they seriously wouldn't eat everyday...we tried in the beginning. NOW babies are always hungry...put in a cubes of blood worm or chunks of shrimp AND watch them go nuts. We're (my bf is) thinking on getting a shoal of red bellies again just babies tho. I'll never have adults again. Maybe I'll get good feeding videos of them if we take on piranha again.

I love all of my fish...but...well, my rosy barbs can be a bit of a headache when they get a little too rowdy. They are very entertaining, but they stress me out the most!!! Still love those guys though.

So, my dad and I got discussing what kind of fish we wouldn't keep and why, and I got to thinking what other people would never keep. My dad said he would never keep goldfish because they cause too much waste. Personally, I couldn't keep large carnivorous fish because I wouldn't be able to feed live fish to one. I am also that one weird fish keeper who isn't all that interested in cichlids, whereas everyone I work with is obsessed with them, and I am not crazy about Glo Tetras either. Saltwater also seems too tricky for me, plus it's crazy expensive. Anyone else on here have a type of fish they would never keep?

For me it'd have to be eels or anything eel like, I know they're beautiful to some people but they give me the heebee jeebees.

Goldfish. I would give pretty much any fish a try but them. They are too messy, get too big, and are overall just a very unappealing fish to me. I can see why people like them, especially the well breed fancy goldfish, but I internally groan whenever I see someone buy goldfish from those tanks at the LFS.

As much as I love goldfish, I feel so bad when I look at some of the fancy varieties like the bubble eye

I think so. I feel bad for fish like that, being injected or genetically modified to look pretty.

You don't really see the dyed fish much these days. What you see are fish that have a gene from a jellyfish in them. There are a couple types of glass fish. We keep the ghost or glass catfish.
