I have read in the past that some don't like to use these strips as they were said to be toxic and others say they are not, the new way to play is the ones made of zinc, I purchased three bunches of anacharis today which came with said strips but do not know if there lead or zinc, my question is will I be fine to use them in my tank with any reprocussions rather they are lead or not? Because they work great for holding those elodeas in place.

I think if you use them in your tank, long enough to get the roots growing into the substrate, you could take them off later on. I did that with some bacopa because I wasn't sure what kind of metal weights they were.

I think it took about a month for my roots to dig down in there pretty good, it might depend on the plant though.
