Should I get him another koi? He seems so lonely. Are koI compatible with koi? I'm worried that if I add another one, the older one will bully it, since it is already established. They will be around equal size.(Both 3 inches).

Thanks for replying.

I'm not that knowledgeable about koi, but have never heard of any that stay that small. I've only ever seen koI in ponds, with numerous koi. I know there are koI keepers here, so I'll wait to learn alongside you. arty0049:

Edited to add: If I had a fish that was laying on its belly, I'd assume it was ill. I wouldn't think it was lazy. :

Is this in your 29 gallon?
No way should koI be in there! KoI need atleast a 500G tank or pond at the very least!
So to answer your questions,
No, don't add another
Yes, koI do get on with other koi.

Heres a pic of my 2 biggest koI in my pond, I would never put them in a tank

Yes, koI do well together. But ... if you are worried about space when adding another koi, chances are you already have too little room for one of them. KoI are made for ponds, not aquariums. You can't keep them like goldfish. They grow to be 3 feet long! They also live longer than giant tortoises. Some are reported to have lived for 200 years in Japan. Guess you didn't know what a great responsibility you took on when you bought it did you?
