Nice looking SD's. I'm a big fan of them & have kept many varieties over the years. Unfortunately SD's are voracious salad eaters and it is likely that any plants in the tank will be lunch.
If possible at some future point, obtain at least a five foot tank. SD's look their best & act more natural, less skittish, in groups of five or more in a long tank.

I have 3 in this tank. They were the size of a quarter when I purchased them. I'm not sure there is enough room for more and I can't get another tank at this time, but would love too.
I'm knocking on wood right now. They do not eat the pennywort and Cryptocoryne wendtii. They have other plants... It limits me but at least I have some plants.
Yes, he gets bluer each molt. I love him, although he is aggressive after a molt. I've come up miss platys...
I think he physics them out as they can eat food from between his claws until molt. Stinker haha

Look at the Spotted & Striped SD's. Very pretty fish & stay relatively small.

He likes to take a bite out of the bottom of the pennywort. Then I have to stick them back in. They grow quickly and don't have deep roots so it's more of a pain than anything else.
The third one has much more color as to red in front and black stripe on body. Thanks

From the pics, the two pictured SD's look to be Metynnis Hypsauchen. I believe the males have a little more of a elongated analfin and a bit more red on it.

Nice fish, I had a handful of silver dollars with a blue gourami years ago in my 90. They look very cool once they are mature and swimming around together
