Large white dots?

Hello. Not sure if this could be Ich, but one of my fish has a white spot on its fin. Today I noticed that the fin had been damaged (probably from nipping) and had some discoloration. Looks like there might be some white spots on their back fins as well. Ich? Some sort of infection from the nipping? Sorry I couldn’t get clear photos, but any help is appreciated, thanks.

It may not actually be ich, ich is usually transmitted through new fish, water, plants, or decor. Ich doesn’t really just ”appear” it could be stress ich but this kind of ich is not infectious and if it is it usually only infects fish who are stressed or unhealthy. If the spots are a perfect circle and you cant see the other side of the fin behind it then it could be ich.

They don’t seem circular, more patchy. Any idea what it could be? I recently added some plants but they were disinfected with bleach.

Looks like the early stages of fin rot to me. A 50% water change would be a good idea. I'm not a big fan of aquarium specific antibiotics, but Erythromycin is often recommended.
Prevention is the best weapon against bacterial infections.

That’s unfortunate. I just preformed a large water change yesterday so hopefully that will help. I have some Melafix on hand as well. Thanks!

Looks more like fin damage then fin rot, but more then fin rot then ich. Fins usually turn pale/white if they have been damaged but its usually in patches. It should heal up in a week or so provided healthy conditions and food.

I think it is the speciesspecific strain of Columnaris in neons. Clean water / low stress can solve this.
