I inherited these two fish and they are in a 40 gallon tank and are about 4 inches long each. Are there any tank mates that I can put in there safely?

And how big are they going to get?

I wouldn't add any other tankmates. As for how big they get, not sure, though some fancies can get 10 inches. Your tank looks like a tall, which isn't enough space for them.

Beautiful fish. What are the dimensions of the tank?

I have never kept goldfish but these guys are growing on me. They are in a 40 tall. Do you think that is large enough just for them anders247? If so. I'm happy with the look of the tank and don't really need to add more.
Poor babies came to me in the 10 gal they were raised in.
Realizing how people just have to have it but then can't or won't take care of it!

I dont think that's nearly enough for those goldfish, you would need at least a 48x18 footprint.

That's not enough space for them, imo. :-\
