So as some may know I just adopted a breeding pair, too bad its a lab and a johanni, but they're both beautiful. so my featherfin had been chasing the female lab around since I got her but he's stopped now. she's claimed a cave and barely comes out. she hasn't eaten since last thursday and when she does poke her head out she makes gill movements like she's gasping. her color is great, no clamped fins. the Johanni boy guards her. could she be carrying already? or is she still acclimating to the new enviroment? I guess they could still be acclimating. I'm not sure, but I am glad your featherfin decided to take a chill pill. :)

i described what she was doing to my friend and fish specialist Bryce and he thought they might have breed already. mouthbrooders won't eat while they're carrying. she's not overly scared of things. when she comes out now she swims around, harrasses some of my other fish (silly girl) and does circles with the johanni. its quite comical.
I hope the two get more social. all the rest come to the top of the tank if I come near it. except the new two and the featherfin of course. they all go and hide like I'm a fisherman :(

I'm bumping this to get some responses from you other cichlid keepers out there.
