I know that kuhli loaches prefer dimmer light and are nocturnal. I was wondering if I'd be better off with floating plants to dim the bulb I already have (with the white sand substrate, it's going to be pretty bright for kuhlis, I think) or would I be better off putting in a less bright bulb or even some specialty bulb.

Most fish appreciate some floating cover - that's what I would do.

Could you recommend what you might use? I've never had floating cover before. Thanks!

I have fake plants. One of them is a 36 inch floating bamboo. The base is ancored in the substrate, but all the extra pools at the surface. Look up "fancy plants giants"

I'm getting some live plants for the tank. Do you think I'd be better off getting some live floater stuff, too, or would something like the bamboo still look okay?

Harpua has some floaters, and I actually was putting together an order anyway..... win win situation.

Thanks you guys!
