Please use this topic to post your KuhlI Loach photos. I'll leave it stickied so it appears at the top of the posts.

-----

Please use your own photos, and not material from the internet.

Please post your photos as attachments, rather than links.

While your compliments on the photos are really appreciated, text-only posts will be removed after a while to keep the gallery pictures-only. If there is a discussion you do not want to loose, please start it again in a separate thread.

Thanks,
Armadillo

The KuhlI family grows

Back again Getting more Kuhlis locally turned into a nightmare so I ordered 7 online from a place in Wales. They seem to have taken the 9 hour (530 mile) drive extremely well. This is the first online purchase I've made and it was a last resort but very impressed with the packing, pricing and the quality of the Kuhlis.

Within 10 mins of being in the tank, we have a comedian already...

before and after..

First pic is when I was draining the 125 litre to prepare for the 240 litre tank...They knew something was happening..

7kuhlis.JPG

Second pic is 20 mins after they were in their new 240 litre home and a lil unsure what to do with the new found space and freedom.

kuhlisstacked.JPG

I will never mock the guy at the LFS when he tries to catch Kuhlis for me now that I've had to try to catch 11 of them twice (from the old tank, then from the holding container during the switch over). It took me the best part of 45 mins to catch them each time!

Here's one of my little guys an inch under the gravel. This is one of the few times one has done this in front and on the glass.

I have a trio of kuhlI loaches with patterns that baffle me. I'm not sure if it's just a variation of the standard Pangio kuhlii banding, or if I got really lucky and have a few P. alternans on my hands. Any suggestions?

Also please pardon the really gross gravel :C

Failed attempt at Chameleon

Soo, it's been a long while since I got any new fish or posted about them on here. But since I got some more Kuhlis, the fun has begun again.

My friend sent me some pictures of the new kuhlis, and some of the bigger guys too. I'm taking a trip down there this weekend to see them. There may or may not be some talk of transporting them back to my new home. It'll be a 3 hour ride, but I think it's manageable.

photo 1.JPG

This is the biggest of the little ones. A name hasn't been decided yet, but I've heard that this one has taking a liking to the Male Albino BN Pleco, but the feeling is not mutual. I suggested "Ana" but my friend doesn't like it, so we'll see. The genders are obviously a mystery to all of us, so we're just disregarding them.

photo 3.JPG

This one is the runt of the bunch, given the name Nudge since he loves to nudge his way into the wrangled mess the bigger kuhlis make. He tends to disappear, but usually is found later in the pirate ship (where he is seen now) or with the bigger kuhlis. To be expected, I suppose.

photo 2.JPG

Here are the big guys. From left to right they are: Fritz, Bouncer, and Ink. Genders are unconfirmed.

The last of the smaller kuhlis couldn't be found, but last time he was seen emerging out of the gravel, so who knows where he could've gone. His name is Sprout, because of that odd behavior. I'm feeding the little guys crushed up flakes. Hopefully they'll grow fast!

I started with 4 Java Kuhli. Then it happened.
When I first noticed, and was excited.

Then the worry.

Don't know if this will work or not, but here's a brief video of the three in quarantine. They're more active now that the neon's aren't nipping them. The one in the back really loves sifting the sand.

Thought I'd add a picture of my very thin loach I found all alone in a nasty tank with some angel fish. Been looking around for some kuhlis to bring back my school as a few of them died after my heater quit on Christmas. I'm working on getting him fattened up. Don't mind the water marks, I am just too lazy to wipe down the glass after every water change.

Got the first one tonight, they finally sat still long enough for me to get a photo for the first time in quite a while.

The other three are older pics from this year. I don't think I've posted these yet?

Love their whiskers so much!

Here is another. I had incorrectly planted my Java fern right into the gravel up to it's leaves. After I pulled it out so the rhizome was out of the substrate, the kuhlI loaches seem to approve

Got 2 baby loaches. This is one. I really wanted this color pattern since the rest of mine were java and I had a hard time finding these little striped guys for a while. They are in a grow-out tank now since they are much smaller than my current loaches and the other fish in my big tank might think they're food.

I came home earlier this week with four new freinds; and they were worth every penny.
Fishlore, these are my four new sons, Ramen, Rice, Angel, and Spaghoot. All named after noodles themselves!
