Kribs with Cockatoo Apistos

Just wanted to get some opinions on the combo!

I've got a 48" 65 gallon tank.

Could I keep these 2 in the same tank? I was originally putting the Apisto in a 40 gallon tank but I'd rather see them in my display tank in the living room!

Tank is moderately planted, plenty of caves and hiding spots.

I have cories in it currently but would remove them if I tried this combo.

My thoughts were to wait until the Apistos grew out a bit. They are quite small now. Then remove Kribs. Completely change hardscape the tank. Making sure to have caves on complete opposite sides and lots of structures for division in the middle. Add the Apistos, wait a few days and add the Kribs back. What do you think?

Other inhabitants:
Angel Fish
BN pleco
3 x sword tails
10 Tetras
3 x cories (which I would move to 40g)

Are the kribs a pair? I would be very hesitant in putting a pair of kribs in a community tank. They are pretty decent singly but can be one of the most aggressive dwarf cichlids when spawning. While apisto's are on the other end of the spectrum. They apisto's may have some attitude but they don't have the biology to back it up against something like a krib.

However, I think you rescaping and introduction plan is sound. I think it will up to the individual cichlids if it will work or not. YOu will just need to keep a very close eye on it for the first few weeks and then if you start seeing spawning behavior in the kribs, you may want to move them to a separate tank or at least keep a very close eye.

The Kribs are a male and female. We've only had them for a month. So no breeding but they do spend most of their time together now so perhaps it's in the future.

The male was a total jerk at first but they are pretty chill now (unless they breed I suppose!!)

Can 2 species of Apistos be housed in the same tank? I've been offered a pair of borellis once they grow.

Could I do cockatoos and borellis in 65G. And keep the Kribs in the 40g?

I think that would be fine.

I think they would be fine - provide 4-5 caves/hideouts and some decor to break up the lines of sight and they'll work well. I have a. borellis and they don't bother anyone - very peaceful!

Do you think that I definitely need to remove the cories?

Or can I keep 6-8 in with the 2 pairs? Measurements are 47x16x20.

I think the cories should be fine. Probably can keep 8-10 easily. But 6-8 should also be fine

I'm so excited for the change in stocking! Although it will be months and months before I get the borellis.

Also can't believe I finally convinced hubby to get another tank bigger then a 10g. Haha I've been working on it for 3 years!
