10 Gallon Tank Kravitz's (newer) planted tank

I figured I should give the thread about Kravitz's rescue a rest and make one in a place where new posts are on topic.

Anyways, the basics of this aquarium-
10 gallons with,
×1 betta (Kravitz)
×1 nerite snail (Taako)
The plants in this tank are java fern, salvinia, some strings of java fern that are just holding on, and a species of anubias I don't have an ID on.
Heated and filtered, substrate has no nutrients and I supplement with ferts when needed.
I've estimated Kravitz to be at least over 3 years old due to the conditions of how I got him. He's been slowing down some recently, but he's still going strong, so I'm sure he'll be here for a while longer.

Yesterday, I experienced the reason that I keep an empty 10 gallon around- my tank cracked. Thankfully both inhabitants survived.

Previously, my tank looked like this.

This is what it looks like today. I like the look thankfully, I just need to fill the tank up the rest of the way and wait for it to get less cloudy.

My plans for this tank are, of course, cleaning up the current look. I may get into stem plants, but that'll take a while.

I think it was either a pressure issue or because the tank is kinda old :/ I just came home, saw dripping water, and got to switching the tanks.
I haven't looked to see if it was actually a crack or if its an issue with the seams due to it not being completely empty yet, I'll have to check that when I have the motivation to deal with it.

I’ve had a tank pop once. Wasn’t fun at all ! I didn’t have a spare at the time. Kids were young and full time job, the fish ended up on fb market place for free, just collect them quick. The guy turned up with a Tupperware tub :( umm sir, I don’t think you understand what Congo tetras are !
If it was a leak at the seams it’s probably a silicone failure and you could reseal and save it. I didn’t ( and still don’t ) have that much faith in my diy ability! Glad you were able to save your fish though , all hail the spare tank !

Aw man, that sucks! I hope him trying to bring them home went well lol
And yeah, probably! I'm likely not going to throw the tank away. If needed, I can just smother the whole area in silicone and use it for an isopod terrarium at a later date.

Yeah I gave him a tub but he looked a bit scared of them when I was catching them and they got fiesty!
That’s a great idea !

Well, here's how the tank is looking today! I like the old hardscape better, but I definitely prefer how the plants are assorted here. I'll probably start liking the hardscape more when I'm able to put anubias trimmings towards the front.
I'll probably do something with that long root out front next time I do a water change, but for now it's fine. I like how it looks out front.

20211209_204546.jpgKravitz has been very happy to rummage through the hardscape in search of food, so he's sure doing fine.

20220114_181510.jpgVery short update, since I haven't gotten any new plants or anything, but I removed the big slab of lava rock in the front since its been annoying me since the beginning.
It proved to be a good idea for Kravitz too, while he used to mostly linger on the right side, he likes swimming through the rocks and plants now :D

By the way, does anyone have any good fert recommendations? I'm pretty sure my tank has a lack of iron (salvinia is growing in pretty pale) and I'm unsure of the deficiency putting holes in my anubias, but it's there.

Unfortunately, as of yesterday, Kravitz has passed away. He had been losing his vision and I'd been expecting it for a month or two, since he'd been slowing down. He just had to wait until Christmas. Great gift, buddy.
