Hello all!
I don't know if anyone is really going to care about this build, but for the past couple of months, I've decided to get into planting my own tanks (my Betta sorority is planted, but someone else did it for meops: , I had gotten to liking it and decided to try it out myself) my skills are still pretty subpar and I've been inspired by all the beautiful aquascapers out there. I've noticed I've sort of absentmindedly been taking pictures along the way, and scrolling through my library, I had realized how sad it was when I first had it vs how it is now.
I've been trying it out on my 55 gallon angelfish and my 5 gallon Betta tank as they're smaller and easier to work with/tanks I can manage plants in. My other tanks are much too big/have fish that probably don't care all that much about plants. It's still unimpressive, but I'm open to options as for what I could put in there
Pic 1: pretty much how it was for almost a year. For the other three years, there was no fern and no plant (on the left). It was only three sad fake plants (on the right) for awhile, there was no main driftwood either...no pics of that, didn't have a phone back then.

Pic 2: A month or so ago, I really started going for the plant building (my friend is a plant, aquatic and land, genius and got me really excited about having them). Added a red melon sword in a pretty beat up shape. Still in progress of getting it back; however, one of my boys enjoys eating the baby leaves when I'm not looking. Also moves the fake plants toward the back corner. Had some anacharis at one point, but I killed it (black thumb much?!?!?)

Pic 3: thanks so a great fishlorian, I've added some bacopia and ludwigia, as well as some others (the mail had punctured the bag and soaked his note on the other things he gave me). Also found some really tall, cheap plants, some sort of sword, to the corners. Also swapped out the driftwood piece on the left with the one in my Betta tank. Moved the Brazilian sword to the front (I know it's not true aquatic, but didn't know that at the time. It's actually doing pretty well) Ditched the fake plants; felt like it was time

Pic 4: moved the bacopia to the Betta tank and added more of those mystery swords for the background.

Pic 5: what it looks like today. After a week or so, the plants really took off in growth and are still going .

Sooooo. That's it's! I have 4 water pancackes in there (3koi, and 1 black/white marbled koi) that have paired up. Plus a longfin bristlenose albino pleco sent to me from a lovely fishlorian as well. The driftwood on the left does look awkward and I'm not quite how to fix it. Both pieces hold up the center piece; the piece on the left was sawed of from the main piece so it could fit, and after switching the driftwoods, I need it there to hold it up. Any idea would be nice. Don't mind the weird papers in the corners of the photo and the ugly background; I currently do not have a stand and it is on a table up against my wall where I keep all my junk. I'm getting a stand soon.
If anybody has read this, thanks! It's not as interesting or as pretty as other tanks, but I'm hoping it'll get there. I wanna change the substrate someday, but I think I'm going to wait until I move so I have to breakdown the tank giving me the opportunity. Ideas for other plants would be appreciated as well as thoughts/opinions also working on another 20 gallon and 75 gallon for stocking and stuff. Have a bunch of fun ideas to consider from another thread, I'll probably do updates on those in the future.
If anybody is interested in the Betta tank transformation, which I really like, I might post those pics too depending on the consensus of this build. So again, thanks!
