corys handle a lot of the cleaning along the bottom and otos love to eat algae. I think any species of either would do well, but you can check out all of them at planet catfish.

Here are the pics of the rocks in my 29 gal. and ship in my 5 gal.

went to the lfs today...they have otos! i'm gonna get 2 of those as soon as the 5 gal. has cycled

do you think that a lonely leopard cory at my lfs would like to join a group of 3-4 zygatus corys?

Re: Kevin's Tank

good idea! lets add tiger barbs and have them nip at my big fish...which will eventually kill them! that's a good idea I think I'll do that next time i'm trying to get rid of fish

Re: Kevin's Tank

now i'm ****...my blue g. has been harassing the new corys all night...i'm gonna turn her in as soon as I get back from va. what can I do to stop this aggression, I never knew that anything would attack a cory like that...she swims throught the plants looking for them...its a game to her

i'm probably gonna wake up to 3 near death corys 'cause of stress :'( >

Re: Kevin's Tank

she needs a time out.. separate her into a container and rearrange the tank some maybe before letting her back in. if that doesn't work, then you might have to divide the tank or find small hiding places for them she can't get into, put her in another tank or turn her in. maybe post a question in the gourami forum to find out what's motivating her behavior.

Does she seem to be trying to bite them or is it more of a curiosity thing.. sometimes fish will be curious, but even our bettas didn't really pay a lot of attention to the corys when we added some.

Re: Kevin's Tank

it looked like she was nipping at them, but they were swimming too fast for me to see well, I tried to catch her and put her in my 5 gal, but she hides in the mid of the live plants and I can't get here, i'm leaving early tom morning, so I can't get a net breeder

i'm all out of ideas >

Re: Kevin's Tank

unfortunately, the only way to get her might be to take the plants & all out. it could be something that will change over time as she accepts them.. hard to say since these little fish like to have personality and don't all follow the same rules.

29 gal. update
had my water tested today...looks like it is going thorough that spike right b4 it is cycled...my ph went down, nitrates are around 10, nitrite was up...I did a 20% water change and treated the water w/ prime...so it should be better now

Re: Kevin's Tank

It might not be time to hit the red button quite yet, but our friend who had the nitrite spike lost almost the entire tank. Taking the fish out and doing a 99% water change might be in order if the nitrites are out of control.. I'd at least be doing 25% changes daily & monitor the nitrite levels.

Re: Kevin's Tank

The Loaches sound like a cool tank and the most unique of those choices.
