Keeping parrot cichlids with convicts In 75 gallon

Flounderman553

So I have a nice 75 gallon with parrot cichlids catfish and benos Aries tetras as dithers I was wondering if convicts would be a good choice. I have 4 years of experience with other South American cichlids but I haven’t worked with convicts due to the conflicting things I’ve heard

I my experience, convict cichlids are some of the most aggressive cichlids you can purchase. I had one many years ago. It was an albino (pink) convict. I had to keep it is a tank by itself as it would attack any other fish I tried to put with it. Your experience might not be the same as mine, but I doubt it is worth the risk.

I tried a cute little female Convict once. Back to the shop!

Super aggressive fish!

I also understand that if you breed Convicts nobody wants your fry.

thanks for the info I decided to back away from them I think I’ll stick to parrots and geophagus
