Keeping Jellyfish

Hello Fishlorians! I hope you all got way more aquariums and supplies than you'll ever use for Christmas

I remember one of you guys/girls said you've been successfully keeping jellyfish for years. I have my eyes on a couple of tall aquariums and I'd be interested in exploring the idea of keeping a couple small jellyfish...

Of course I want to know all of the information required that's why I'm reaching out to you!

Been to an to an lfs with an AIO jelly tank all I know is that there extremely delicate creatures

 

Mine isn't delicate.

It's a bully and attacks my deep-sea divers.

 

If you want to keep jellies, an aquarium simply won't cut it. You have to get a kreisel aquarium - or make one yourself. They pretty specilised, and require certain conditions to thrive otherwise they end up dying early due to being misinformed.

 

I think an actual kreisal aquarium looks pretty dope though.

How big of a tank do jellies need? What’s the idea behind the kreisal setup?

The kreisal keeps them gently suspended with a very gentle flow while also allowing for filtration. Otherwise the jellies would be stuck on the bottom or destroyed by current. They actually don't need nearly as much space as an experienced fishkeeper would think. Apprently breeding them isn't too difficult either except isolating them so the parents don't accidentally eat them before they become jellies.
