Keeping Invertebrates As Test Subjects

I'm going to be doing a honors science research course at my high school next year. IIn this course I will run scientific tests using a hypothesis of my choosing. I have to make a research plan, among other things, in order to get in however, which is why I’m encountering these problems now. The problem I’m facing is that my project requires keeping Decapods in order to see if they could possibly feel pain(don’t worry, the tests I’m running aren’t going to physically harm them in any way, I could never bring myself to hurt a decapod). The species I am considering using are Ghost shrimp, Crawfish, and A species of crab I haven’t yet decided yet. I want to get someone opinion on the fact that they will be living entirely at school. While, and this is likely, the crawfish and crabs will be set up beforehand by me, and will live with me afterwards, the shrimp I’m not as sure about, because I will have to keep them entirely at school. Does anyone have any thoughts on my plan of keeping decapods?

Ghost shrimp are realitively low maintenance, so feeding algae wafers and keeping them with a few moss balls should be just fine

I'm not sure how you plan to test if they can feel pain without physically harming them.

How often will you be seeing them at school?

Ghost shrimp typically have a pretty short life span due to most being breed as feeder shrimp. Might want to think about Amano Shrimp.
Though I am curious as well as to how you’re going to test if they feel pain.
